966A was built from 1960 through 1963, the key features including a turbocharged diesel engine, power shift transmission, one finger shifting controls and 2-3/4 cubic yard bucket capacity. Caterpillars design put the lift arms and hydraulic cylinders ahead of the operators compartment.
